i think he has a point but he didnt work it correctly. for example when we predict the chance of rain, we predict based on our observations and past data, but that prediction will never give you the real exact percentage. for that, you would need to know about every particle on earth. so the percentage we see on the weather is merely our best guess as to what the percentage chance of rain is

in the scenario, Drake heard he had a 1% chance of Survival, hearing that, he had more hope and decided to try escape, thereby increasing his chance of survival (or decreasing we don't know).
